Asparagus
The vegetable grower in May is very busy doing everything but harvesting. Many plants are happily growing away in the ground but there is nothing quite ready to pull out the ground apart from the odd Salad Onion and the end of the winter salads.
The only crop that has it’s main harvesting season in May is the delectably extravagant and, quite often, ludicrously expensive, Asparagus. It is however a treat that most people like as it’s known that English asparagus is the tastiest in the world.
