We subscribe to organic farming as a positive philosophy, and is far more than just avoiding the use of artificial chemicals and fertilisers. It is an approach to farming and growing which views the land as a whole system in harmony with the natural surroundings and nature itself.
The key to it all is working with nature to create healthy strong plants that can cope and grow through pest and disease attacks thus rendering pesticides obsolete. And by working to create natural fertility in the soil using clover (to fix Nitrogen) and compost, artificial chemical fertilisiers just aren’t required.
Wildlife havens are part and parcel of organic farming. We create the haven, the wildlife helps us look after the crops. Strips of wild grasses and flowers known as beetle banks create the habitat and in turn this creates a countryside more full of birds as they feed from the havens created.
